Culmination of Suicidal/Depressive Black Metal

Shining is the band that have no borders to expose the feelings and emotions, even if the group has been labelled suicidal/depressive black metal, the musicians use some non-Black Metal instruments such as piano and acoustic guitars showing no limits or rules for Kvarforth to obey. The first 4 full-length albums were just great and album by album Shining were getting more experienced and skilled, but it seems Niklas wasn't satisfied with the tool box since he almost changed all the band members and this lead some fans thinking whether the next album would be a disappointment. Well the answer is simply "HELL NO".

Kvarforth's vocals in V - Halmstad are really impressive, even something more thanthat. It's as if the listener were emotionally being controlled by the singer.The female vocals could be better. In " Låt Oss Ta Allt från Varandra" she cries in a weird way but still gives an impressive performance.

The use of acoustic guitar provides an inner feeling ready to explode. Kvarfoth's explosion of depression and hatred after acoustic guitar in "Neka Morgondagen" really makes the listener shiver. The same use of acoustic guitar appears in "Längtar Bort från Mitt Hjärta" creating a similar atmosphere in that song as well.

The only Instrumental track is "Åttiosextusenfyrahundra" which is a short rip-off from the Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" without any anger nor hatred in it but, nevertheless, still in the coverage of album's atmosphere. All tracks are really great but if I had to choose 3 highlights from the tracklist, these would be "Neka Morgondagen", "Låt Oss Ta Allt från Varandra" and "Besvikelsens Dystra Monotoni". The cover art really fits the album as well with its allusions to hatred, anger and depression.

The band's performance is really great in such a genre. In most depressive/suicidal black metal bands one can't even tell the difference between the passages of, let's say, bass and rhythm guitars. Nevertheless, having skilled musicians and Kvarforth's vocals make Shining a unique band in it's own genre. V - Halmstad is one of those rare must-be-heard albums for the fans of suicidal/depressive black metal and those who like songs which create depressive ,hateful and suicidal atmosphere

That's What I Expected From Swallow the Sun

Swallow the Sun is a Finnish Melodic Death/Doom Metal band.The Band's first work was a Demo Album released in 2003 named "Out Of This Gloomy Light".Then their first full-length album was released in the same year.The album got many top rated reviews and Swallow the Sun was introduced to Doom Metal's world.When their second album was released it got the number 8 on the Finnish album charts.The band did gigs in Finland and aboard.They worked hard and increased their skills and when the "Hope" was released in 2007 it climbed to number 3 on the Official Finnish Album Chart.A year later their EP album "Plague of Butterflies" was released.the album was in Number 1 spot on the Finnish charts in its first week.Now after a year Swallow the Sun is back with "New Moon".Till know this album has been reviewed in many websites and most of reviews have given the album a top rate.Now here is my short review of album and some tracks 

As many (or all) of you know,Swallow the Sun has released their 4th Full-Length album entitled "New Moon".The title of the album has nothing to do with the so called movie "New Moon".If you listen to this album for times and care about the lyrics you'll notice that this is the title that fits the album

The band has released some great albums before,but now swallow the Sun is shining more than ever.With some changes in vocals and guitars and drums (Drums was better before in my opinion),Swallow the Sun is becoming more flexible to expose their feeling.For Mikko Kotamäki's Vocals I have to say his Harsh vocals is great,but greater is his clean vocals.The highlights of his clean vocals are in two tracks "New Moon" and "Falling World".Guitars are more in a melancholic and slow/heavy mood than before.But with changing drummer I guess the drum hits has became  predictable

Track "Lights on the Lake (Horror pt iii)" maybe is what I expected from Swallow the Sun,or maybe is more than what I expected. The first time you listen to this track you'll be waiting for Mikko to start vocals,but you'll get surprised with the female vocal.The female weak clean voice has really made the song more emotional

Track "New Moon" is the 6th track in their 8-track album.Mikko's Clean vocal and the music itself clearly show some changes in Swallow the Sun which I mentioned at first.I'm sure Progressive Metal/Rock fans will enjoy this track

Track "And The Heavens Cried Blood" is a good keyboard experience. if you have noticed Mikko has two different harsh vocal types.one type is really close to black metal vocals,and the other is the type we hear in most death/doom metal band.Changing from on type of singing to the other is really difficult and that's what Mikko has done perfectly.Not only for this song,the whole album is really in control of Mikko's vocal

Track "Falling world" is one of those popular tracks,I mean even those who don't like swallow the sun will enjoy this track.Excellent guitar riffs and vocals.Especially clean vocals in this track.the lyric and music accompany vocals to draw a world that really is falling

Maybe you will see some changes in this album,but the band's attitude and lyrical themes are almost the same.Most song are about grief,death,horror and the atmosphere is kinda hopeless,melancholic and aggressive

New Moon is not perfect in all respects,but surely it's a masterpiece in Melodic Doom/Death Metal and the best Swallow the Sun album till now

همه چیز از اون بعد از ظهره شروع شد.زمانی که تام یورک بعد از غروب آفتاب به یک بار در لس آنجلس رفت.اما آنچه که در بار اتفاق افتاد به کابوسی شبانه برای تام بدل شد.خودش در مورده اون مکان اینچنین میگه : "مردمی که من توی اون بار دیدم انگار اهریمنانی بودند که از سیاره ایی دیگه اومده بودند."

تام که بعد از ترک کردن اون بار به هتل رفته بود و احساس امنیت میکرد در مورده فضای اون بار اینجور حرفشو ادامه میده : "هرکسی سعی میکرد که چیزی از وجودم بگیره.احساس میکردم که در حضور خودم و جلوی چشمای خودم دارم غش میکنم و از حال میرم.اما در عین حال خودمو بطور کامل بخشی ازش میدونستم که هر لحظه امکان داغون شدنش وجود داشت."

آن شب الهام بخش Paranoid Android شد.این آهنگ فضایی که مخلوطی از زیبایی سودا زده و عصب نمایی هست رو برای مخاطب خلاصه میکنه.آهنگی که با خروشهای گیتار اکوستیک و الکتریک همراهه.در اواخر آهنگ همه اعضای گروه باهم همخوانی میکنند که فضایی رو ایجاد میکنه که انگار همه تقاضای بخششی بهشتی میکنند.

تام در مورد آهنگ میگه که : "انگار خودتو با خدا مواجه میکنی.نمیدونم.واقعا همه اش مربوط به اون شبه تو باره.ما(گروه) ماهها روی این آهنگ تمرین کردیم.اما متن شعر این آهنگ رو من ساعت 5 صبح همون روز نوشتم.داشتم سعی میکردم که بخوابم اما این صداها منو ول نمیکردن.صدای آدمهایی که توی بار دیدم.بعدها فهمیدم که اونجا یه جای خیلی بدنامی بوده.اساسا این آهنگ در مورده هرجو مرجه"

همونطور که در بالا از زبان تام یورک براتون نوشتم,صداهایی در ذهن تام میپیچیده که راحتش نمیزاشتند.اگه به اول متن شعر هم توجه کنیم متوجه این موضوع میشیم :

پارانوید آندروید آهنگییه از سومین آلبوم استودیویی گروه به نام OK Computer.متن شعر که هم طنز آمیز هم غمگینه اول توسط تام یورک نوشته شد.مدت زمان پخش این آهنگ 6 دقیقه و 23 ثانیه هست و ویدئویی هم برای این آهنگ ساخته شده.کل متن شعر از چهار بخشه مجزا تشکیل شده که بطور قابله توجهی تحت تاثیر  آهنگه Happiness Is a Warm Gun از گروه The Beatles میباشد.

نام Paranoid Android از کتابه Marvin the Paranoid Android گرفته شده.کتابی به نویسندگیه Douglas Adams که سری کتابهایی  با نام The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy از آثارشه.

پارانوید آندروید وقتی به عنوان تک آهنگ (Single) اصلیه OK Computer منتشر شد توانست رتبه سوم UK Singles Chart رو از آن خودش بکنه.در بسیاری از بررسیها و نقدهای وارد به خود آهنگ و یا آلبوم,پارانوید آندروید توانست جایگاه بالایی رو در بین منتقدین بدست بیاره.

این آهنگ توانست در بسیاری از لیستهای بهترین آهنگهای دنیا جای بگیره.مانند Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

موزیک ویدئوی انیمیشنی این آهنگ هم به کارگردانیه Magnus Carlsson در MTV البته با سانسور نمایش داده شد.بعد از رلیز شدن این آهنگ خیلی از گروهها با سبکهای مختلف این آهنگو کاور کردند.

گیتار سولویی که در آخر آهنگ شنیده میشه توسط Jonny Greenwood نوشته شده بود.این سولو برای پارانوید آندروید نوشته نشده بوده,اما چون یه چیزی برای اتمام آهنگ کم بوده و از اونجایی که این سولو با ریتم و تمپوی آهنگ همخوانی داشته ازش در اواخر آهنگ استفاده کردند.

پارانوید آندروید در اوایل (قبل از رلیز آلبوم سوم) آهنگی تقریبا" 15 دقیقه ایی بود که ریدیوهد در تور Alanis Morissette این آهنگو خیلی زدن که فکر کنم همین قضیه باعث شد که روش بیشتر کار کنند و کوتاهترش کنند تا برای آلبوم OK Computer آماده بشه.البته اون زمان که آهنگ 15 دقیقه ایی بود بسیاری از ایستگاههای رادیویی از گروه خواستند که این آهنگو کمی کوتاه ترش بکنند که ریدیوهد قبول نکرد.

تاثیر ریدیوهد و مخصوصا آلبوم OK Computer در بسیاری از گروهها مشهوده.گروههایی مانند Coldplay و Keane و Snow Patrol و... که همه اینها نشاندهنده ظرفیت بالا و تاثیر بسزای ریدیوهد در Alternative Rock میباشد.

در آخر هم متن شعر این اهنگو میزارم که بدلیل ساده بودن نیازی به ترجمه نمیبینم :

Varg "Greven" Vikernes

متولد : 11 فوریه 1972،بزرگ شده در Bergen.

زندانی شده : به دلیل قتل Øystein Aarseth در Oslo در سال 1993،به آتش کشیدن کلیساها - Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo, Skjold Church in the world and Åsane church in Bergen - آتش زنی و چندین دزدی شبانه.محکوم به 21 سال زندان،آزاد شده از زندان با قول شرف بعد از سپری کردن 16 سال از محکومیت.

محل سکونت : Telemark

وضعیت تاهل : متاهل،دارای دو فرزند که آخر این تابستان سومین فرزند هم بدنیا خواهد آمد

من به دادگاه گفتم که نه ش-ی-ط-ا-ن پرست بودم نه نیستم و نه خواهم شد.اما خوب روشنه که این حرفه من اون چیزی نبود که خبرنگاران خودشونو آماده کرده بودن که به مردم نروژ فاش کنند.آنها انتظار داشتند و میخواستند که من یک ش-ی-ط-ا-ن پرست باشم.پس منو یک ش-ی-ط-ا-ن پرست معرفی کردند.(از کتاب منتشر نشدهء ورگ ویکرنس)

محل  Telemark ژوئن سال 2009 : (از زبان خبرنگار) : ما از میان جنگل متراکم با اتوموبیل عبور میکنیم.از کنار کوههایی با سراشیبی تند و دره هایی در کنارشان میگذریم.خورشید در آسمانی صاف میدرخشد.هوا گرم و مرطوب است.در حالی که از کنار پمپ بنزینی رد میشویم موبایلم یه صدا در میآید.ورگ ویکرنسه.که بهش کُنت هم میگن.میپرسه که راه رو درست اومدید؟

20 دقیقه بعد ماشین رو متوقف میکنیم.

روبروی ما مردی بلند قد با ژاکتی و کفشی کتانی هست.ما بدنبالش به خانه ی جدیدش میرویم.

مزرعه،که توسط خانواده  چند سال پیش خریداری شده،کنار طبیعت واقع شده.زن خانواده منتظر بچه جدیدشونه.پسر یک و نیم ساله شون هم در مزرعه در حاله ورجه وورجه ست.

از زبان ورگ ویکرنس : ما به طور خیلی تصادفی (خوشبختانه) اینجا رو خریدیم.ما یه جای آروم و بیسرو صدا با منظره ایی زیبا بیرون شهر میخواستیم.اینجا خیلی زیباست.ما اینجا میتونیم خودمون باشیم.اما کارهای زیادی هست که برای برقراری روزگار باید انجام بدم.کارهای باغ و چمنزار.البته من همیشه از کارهای بدنی خوشم میاد.مشکلی برای همراهی با زمان و جلو رفتن ندارم.

تنها چند هفته از آزادیه مردی میگذرد که روزگاری در دهه نود جزو ترسناکترین مردها بود.مردی که تقریبا" نیمی از عمر ۳۶ ساله اش را پشت میله های زندان گذراند.

او فقط ۲۱ سال سن داشت

در ۱۶ می ۱۹۹۴ او به ۲۱ سال زندان محکوم شد.به جرم قتل Øystein Aarseth ‌‌و به آتش کشیدن سه کلیسا و یک آتش زنی و چندین دزدی شبانه.

بزودی دادگاه و مردم دریافتند که این پسر تقریبا" به یک اسطوره تبدیل شده.هم در نروژ و هم خارج از نروژ.

مجلهء Dagbladet به کتاب هنوز منتشر نشدهء ورگ دسترسی داره.کتابی که ورگ ویکرنس در طول ۱۶ سال زندانی بودنش  نوشته. شرحی از زبان خودش که چه اتفاقی افتاد از زمانی که جامعه بلک متال در سال ۱۹۹۱ در نروژ شکل گرفت تا ۳ سال بعد که بدلیل قتل و به آتش کشیدن کلیساها به زندان افتاد.

در متن زیر ورگ ویکرنس توضیح میده که چه اتفاقی افتاد وقتی از بازداشت ۶ هفته ایی در سال ۱۹۹۳ آزاد شد.بازداشتی که بدلیل مشکوک بودن در دست داشتن آتش زدن کلیساها متحمل شده بود.جرمی که سال بعد بخاطرش زندان رفت(بعلاوه جرمهای دیگرش) :

من واقعا" متحیر شدم وقتی از زندان آزاد شدم و دیدم که رسانه ها چه تصویری از اون موقعیت ساخته بودند.صفحه به صفحه و پشت سرهم از عبارت کُنت استفاده کرده بودند.نامی مستعار که Øystein با ان مرا صدا میزد.به خاطر اینکه من از نام مستعار "کُنت گریشناخ" در آلبومی استفاده کرده بودم.و من در تمام به اصطلاح مصاحبه ها میدیدم که رنوانکاوانی مریض که خودشان را متخصص ش-ی-ط-ا-ن پرستی میدانستند به طور خود محور در این باره صحبت میکردند

در هر صورت من از عبارت S*a*t*a*n*i*s*m تنها به این دلیل استفاده کردم که مخالفت و خشمم رو نسبت به مسیحیت نشون بدم.در کل S*a*t*a*n برای من ترجمه اش میشود : دشمن.اما آن شیطانی که در رسانه ها معرفی شده بود هیچ ربطی با آن شیطانی که من در افکارم داشتم نداشت.

ورگ ویکرنس 36 ساله میگوید : من آن کُنتی نیستم که رسانه ها نشانش دادند.

این فقط غمناکه.کسانی که منو مدته زیادی بود که میشناختند هیچ شباهتی بین چیزی که نوشته میشد در مورد من با خودم نمیدیدند.اما خوب منم خودمو مقصر میدونم به خاطر اینکه رسانه ها مارو اینجوری نشون دادند.به همین دلیل هم هست که این کتابو نوشتم.و مشتاقم که یک ناشر چاپش کنه.

من دیگه میخوام این موضوع رو خاتمه بدم. و هرچی رو که طی این مدت برام اتفاق افتاده پشت سر بگزارم.من مرحله ایی جدید از زندگیمو آغاز خواهم کرد.

(از زبان خبرنگار) : ما زیر بلندترین درخت اون محل میشینیم.روی میز یک قوری قهوه هست با دو جام بلند با کیکی خانگی.

-من این درخت و این مکانو دوست دارم. دوست دارم بشینم اینجا و ریلکس کنم خودمو.

این زنه که به خانواده میرسه.

ورگ میگه : من هیچوقت تقاضای کمک نکردم.

از نظر دادگاه ورگ آماده ورود به جامعه نبود. اما حالا که آماده هست - همونطور که در عفو مشروطش ذکر شده - موظفه که در سه ماه اول هر ۱۴ روز یک گزارش از وضعش بده.بعد از این مدت برای نه ماه موظفه که هر ماه این کارو بکنه.اگه جرمی مرتکب بشه مستقیم به زندان میره.

ورگ میگه : خوب معلومه که خوبه که از زندان بیرون اومدم و پیش خانواده ام برگشتم.واقعا" زیباست که ما بالاخره میتونیم برای همیشه در کنار هم باشیم.

من دکمهء توقف رو در زندان زدم.و دوباره این دکمه رو فشردم وقتی از زندان آزاد شدم. انسان وفق پذیره.من درباره زندان و اتفاقاتی که برام افتاده بود فکر نمیکردم.من در آینده زندگی میکردم.من نوشتم-تمرین کردم-غذاهای سالم خودم و به زندگی بسیار ارزش قائل شدم در زمانی که در زندان بودم.

اما چیزه جالبی در مورد سیستم زندانهای نروژ ندارم که بگم.هیچ قانونی در زندانهای نروژ نیست.

من فقط از حرفهای Knut Storberget خشمگین میشدم.همش میگفت که مشکلات الکلی یا مواد مخدر رو جدی میگیرن.این فکر کنم تنها قانون انجا بود و خیلی مسخره بود.گرچه من تا حالا الکل یا مواد را حتی لمس هم نکردم

 این مردی که ما بهش کُنت میگیم واقعا" کیه؟

او متولد شهر برگن هست و همونجا هم بزرگ شد.در دوران کودکیش خیلی فعال و کنجکاو و بشاش بود. بعلاوه خیلی خلاق بود.علاقهء زیادی به خواندن داشت.همه چیزو به طوری خاص میدید.در زمینه ورزش و آموزشهای نظامی فعال بود.و بزودی عاشق موسیقی شد.مخصوصا سبکهای classical و visesanger رو بیشتر میشنید.اما هرگز به موسیقی پاپ گوش نداد.

در ۱۴ سالگی صاحب یک گیتار شد.این براش آغاز حرفهء موسیقی بود

The relocation of Polish Jews from surrounding areas to Krakow in late 1939, shortly after the beginning of World War II.
